GJ Couple Whose Wife Donated Kidney To Husband Doing Well Following Transplant

In a story 11 News first brought you last week on the Pearmain family that is fighting a fatal kidney disease, there is good news to report, both Kim and Mona Pearmain are doing well after teaming up for a kidney transplant. Kim Pearmain needed a transplant to save his life and his wife, Mona, happened to be the perfect match and she agreed to donate a kidney for her husband.

The Pearmain's underwent their surgeries at Porter's Adventist Hospital in Denver on Friday. Mona has been released and is now living in a Porter Hospital house while she tends to Kim. Kim has been moved from the intensive care unit into the regular hospital ward.

Wednesday, he was walking every 30 minutes and has lost ten pounds. Doctors say his new kidney is functioning extremely well. 11 News spoke with Kim's grandfather and he said Mona and Kim are feeling great and their spirits are high.

Mona and Kim are forced to take time off from work to recuperate from the operation. They are in need of financial assistance since they owe 20% of the surgery costs after insurance, which is more than $30,000.
