2 Durango girls have been ordered to pay a $900 fine after they placed cookies at a neighbor's door as a gift, and knocked and ran away. It all happened in a rural area in Durango when, Taylor Ostergaard, 17, and Lindsey Jo Zellitti, 18, decided they didn't want to go to their prom because they thought there was going to be swearing and drinking there.
Instead, they baked a bunch of cookies for their neighbors. They then went door-to-door and left the cookies on doorsteps and ran off. Around 10:30 that night a 49-year-old woman became so terrified by the knocks on the door she suffered a severe anxiety attack that sent her to the hospital.
Waneta Young sued the girls for her medical bills. The girls learned Thursday that a judge had fined them $900 to pay those bills. Judge Doug Walker said he didn't think the girls acted maliciously, but showed bad judgement by being out that late.
