Two popular Grand Junction parks will be getting an upgrade soon and the city is looking for artists to contribute. Construction of a new splash playground at the Lincoln Park swimming pool is due to start soon thanks to a donation from the Grand Junction Lions Club. The City also plans to build a new restroom building at Duck Pond Park.
Funded by the city's 1% for the Arts Program, the Commission on Arts and Culture is looking for an artist to provide outdoor artwork for the two projects. The artwork can be ceramic or tile murals, unique paving, benches, or other pieces The works can be from a professional artist or firm, or can involve a neighborhood or school.
A total of $3,100 is available for the project. For more information call the Arts Commission at 254–3865.
