A major decision was made Tuesday night by the Grand Junction Rural Fire Protection District when it decided not to sue Envizion, for the $760,000 owed to the district, unless they miss another payment. The board decided on a payment plan and as long as Envizion follows that plan the money should be paid off by next year.
Since August Envizion has made its payments of $20,000 a month on schedule, so the board remains hopeful that they will see the rest of the money as well. Rural Fire District Board Treasurer Bob McCormick said that receiving their payments will not solve the boards' financial troubles.
He added it will nearly help them through 2006 and may take a bite out of their projected budget deficit of $600,000.
Also Tuesday, former board member Tery Dixon resigned from the rural fire district. The board hopes to hold interviews in the last week of March to find a replacement
