2 Dead In Montrose County, Police Investigating Possible Murder-Suicide

More details are emerging from Tuesday's possible murder-suicide case in Naturita. The Montrose County Sheriff's Department Wednesday is now releasing the name of the apparent suicide victim. He is Michael Clayton Richardson, 35, from Naturita and police say he died of a self–inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident happened at around 2:30 in the afternoon. Montrose County Undersheriff Dick Deines said the emergency dispatch office at Nucla received a report from a construction worker that a fellow employee had been shot. When deputies arrived at the Ash Pit on FF31 Road, they found a man dead in the seat of a road grading machine.

Two minutes later someone called dispatch to report that an eyewitness had seen a person commit suicide at Coke Ovens ranch 10 miles southwest of Naturita. That's where they found Richardson's body. Those two locations are aproximately ten miles apart. Tuesday the bodies were being transported to the coroner's office for an autopsy Thursday.

The apparent homicide victim has not yet been positively identified.
