A Grand Valley student is in trouble with the law after bringing a weapon to school. A 13-year-old student was arrested after an investigation showed that he brought a knife to East Middle School, February 1st. Police say the boy had a concealed 3-inch-long folding knife.
According to police, the boy has been suspended from school, but did not make any threats to anyone. Police are recommending to the Mesa State District Attormey's that the boy be charged with unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon on school grounds, which is a Class 6 Felony.
Last year, several boys were arrested at Fruita Middle School after 2 guns were found on campus.
