While legislators were debating a wide range of water issues Monday in Denver, Grand Valley residents did, too, taking a close look at these issues. The hot topic at Monday's Club 20 meeting is State Representative Josh Penry's (R-Grand Junction) Basin of Origin Bill which passed in the Statehouse, Monday.
During a break from the meeting in the afternoon, Penry took time to have a phone conference with the group. He said his bill has a great deal of bipartisan hope and other legislators have been receptive to his idea.
Club 20 Executive Director Reeves Brown said it's important to provide the public with an outlet where they can speak directly to statewide leaders about issues that affect them. The group also discussed a recreational in channel diversion bill that's currently moving through the senate. It's designed to establish rights for both recreational water uses, as well as industrial uses.
