The City of Grand Junction is partnering with Mesa County School District 51 to make improvements to an existing school and one that is going to be built in the future. The city and the school district are in talks to add another full–size gym to Bookcliff Middle School. The city also hopes to make Bookcliff Middle School an “activity center” for the neighborhood.
Also in the plans is to make the Pear Park Elementary School gym much bigger and to add a neighborhood park. Rapid growth in these areas is forcing the expansion. The city and the school district also hope to construct a new neighborhood park in the Bookcliff Middle School area.
The city will make the final decision on the school gym expansions and neighborhood parks sometime around April 1st.
