After seeing an increase of 13% last year airport officials say the number of passengers flying out of Walker Field Airport in Grand Junction continues to climb this year. In January nearly 11,500 people flew out of the Western Slope's largest airport.
That figure is up about 20% from January, 2004. Airport officials say increased competition and lower air fares contributed to the rise.
A new jet charter service to casinos in Wendover, Nevada also increased the passenger numbers.
