After being arrested Sunday, a Grand Valley man was formally arraigned Monday on attempted murder charges. Jason Brown, 22, is charged with first degree attempted murder and first degree assault. The court appearance follows a weekend shooting of Jaime Burch during an apparent drug deal gone wrong.
Bail for Brown was set at $150,000 and a criminal protection warrant was also issued barring Brown from any contact with the alleged victim.
Brown will be back in court next week to determine a trial date. If convicted the 22–year-old faces up to 48 years in prison and fines ranging from $5,000 to $1 million dollars.
