Just in time for the return of the 143rd Signal Company, Homefront Heroes, a military support group, kicked off the Highway Home Ribbon Campaign, Friday. Veteran Ray Robinson had the honor of hanging the first of more than 3,200 yellow ribbons that will line the roadways from Rifle to Montrose.
The event is leading up to Colorado Salute Our Troops Remembrance Day set for March 29th. Homefront Heroes President Phyllis Derby said the yellow ribbon signifies the honor, courage, and hope of our active military. She wants to thank everyone in the community for their continued support as the War on Terror continues.
Although Friday was the kickoff for the Highway Home Ribbon Campaign, the real work begins Saturday as volunteers with the direction of the Colorado Department of Transportation attaching yellow ribbons along Interstate 70 and state highways 141 and 50.
