Later this week State Representative Bernie Buescher, (D)-Grand Junction, will present a proposal to the statehouse that will ask for a $1.7 billion dollar bond issue. At a news conference Tuesday in Grand Junction, the democrat said his bond proposal will be used to make improvements to school buildings, roads, bridges, and funding for pensions for police and firefighters.
The proposal is part of a bigger package in the Colorado Economic Recovery Act, stopping budget cuts in the state's college's and universities, including Mesa State College is also part of the bill. This proposal will also stop budget cuts to health care services and judicial and other state services.
Buescher is expected to present his proposal to the statehouse this week. He said Tuesday he thinks he has enough support from both sides of the aisle to get this bond issue passed.
