Tabor Debate Takes Center Stage At Club 20's Spring Meeting
One featured discussion of Club 20's annual spring meeting this weekend focused on the Colorado general assembly's recent passing of Referendum C. The bi–partisan act is intended to solve the state's budget problems, but only if voters approve the referendum this fall. Referendum C will ask voters to approve letting the state keep excess revenues such as sales tax while not affecting personal tax refunds. Those extra funds would be used to get the state back to the level of spending seen before September 11th. Republican Senate Minority Leader Mark Hillman says he isn't fond of the bi–partisan agreement, but he says it's better than the alternative. He says that means letting the state's institutions of higher education and transportation infrastructure collapse due to lack of funding.
