24–hours after the death of Pope John Paul II, catholics throughout the Grand Valley are mourning the loss, but celebrating his life. Parishioners gathered at the Imaculate Heart of Mary Church Sunday morning for weekly mass. Sermons primarily centered on the holy gospel, but heart strings of parishioners and members of the cloth alike were pulled towards both mourning the deceased pontiff and admiring the accomplishments of his life. Although it's still unknown who will succeed the pontiff, cardinals will assemble in Rome nine days after the Pope's funeral to begin the selection process.
