Grand Valley Man Who Barricaded Himself Facing Additional Charges

The suspect in a three–hour police standoff in Grand Junction Wednesday was in custody at the Mesa County Jail, Thursday.
Following further police investigation, Tino Gonzales is facing felony menacing charges. They come after he barricaded himself in his house after allegedly attempting to stab his sister with a kitchen knife for laughing at him.

Both of Gonzales' sisters, as well as his grandmother, were able to flee the home at 447 West Colorado Avenue in Riverside Township. Grand Junction's S.W.A.T. team responded and hostage negotiators, keeping in contact with gonzales via cell phone,
were able to get him out of the house safely and without incident.

Several of the surrounding homes were evacuated by police.
