The Colorado chapter of The March of Dimes awards $10,000 to the Mesa County health department to educate women of child bearing age of the importance of folic acid. Folic acid is a B–vitamin that if taken before and in early pregnancy may help prevent certain types of birth defects. The grant will enable the nursing staff at the health department to distribute informational materials and vitamins to clients in a number of programs.
