Grand Junction Water Supply Well Above Average

Despite a drought, Grand Junction City Officials say the water supply is well above average this year. Water services manager Terry Franklin presented the annual water report to the members of City Council tonight.

Officials say the reservoirs are already full which is a good sign for the water supply this summer. At this point, the city water supply is at 150 percent of average. Franklin says there will be no water restrictions this summer, but despite the high water supply the city is still in a drought situation and residents must still conserve water as much as possible.

Water services officials weren't expecting the results they got when they put the report together. The city will continue to work on water conservation awareness and say efforts so far have paid off. In the last two to three years Grand Junction has used 20 percent less water during the winter months.
