A female student at Grand Junction High School told classmates Tuesday that a student was going to recreate Columbine at GJHS Wednesday in light of the anniversary of the Columbine shooting.
Concerned parents and students have been assured by the Grand Junction Police Department that there is no truth behind the rumors. GJPD spokesperson Kris Olson says the rumors have been linked to one student who did not think before she spoke.
Students reported the threat to school officials who then reported them to the school resource officer. School officials took the threat seriously and immediately started an investigation. The investigation revealed the threat was just a rumor and that there was no truth whatsoever behind the threat.
School officials say they will not take any extra security precautions Wednesday. No punishment has been decided yet for the student responsible for the rumors.
