Tuesday, The Mesa County Sheriffs Office was investigating a Muesday night shooting that sent one man to the hospital. Police received the call of a single shot fired in Fruitvale about 8:00 PM. No arrests hade been made, Tuesday night.
Authorities acknowledged that a man, Steven Coates, and a woman were having a domestic dispute, but authorities were releasing few details. Sergeant Chris Franz with the Mesa County Sheriffs Office said there was a single shot that hit the male victim in the wrist. He was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital where he was operated on. His condition was not known.
There was a witness to the incident. She was the 15-year-old niece of one of the people involved in the dispute. The girl was released to her mother. Also in the house were two severely handicapped adults.
