A Grand Junction man was in custody Wednesday after police say he raped a woman after offering her a ride home. According to the affidavit supporting the warrentless arrest, Alfonso Gonzales picked up the alleged victim in his truck in the early morning hours of April 21st on the corner of 7th Street and Grand Avenue.
After the victim had left a grand junction night club, Gonzales offered the victim a ride home, then asked repeatedly for sex.
He finally drove to a secluded spot where he reportedly raped the victim. According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office,
several clear details abhout Gonzales and his vehicle led to the arrest.
Wednesday, Gonzales was in the Mesa County Jail and will be charged with first degree sexual assault, kidnapping, and menacing.
He was arraigned at the Mesa County Justice Center. Along with being formally charged, his bond was set at $150,000.
