One person is dead and two others are injured following a head–on collision in the Pear Park area of Grand Junction, Thursday. The crashed happened around 11:00 AM near the intersection of D and 31 Roads.
According to the Grand Junction Police Department, a car was traveling west on D road and drifted into the eastbound lane. The older model Ford Thunderbird hit a Jeep Cherokee head on, killing the female driver of the car. A male passenger in the car and the female driver of the Jeep Cherokee suffered minor injuries.
None of the victims' names were being released Thursday evening, but police did say the driver who died is a 19-year-old woman from Grand Junction. The driver of the other vehicle is a 33-year-old Grand Junction woman.
An investigation into what led to the crash is underway. There was no word on whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. Police said neither occupant in the Ford was wearing a seatbelt.
