The Mesa County Coroner has released the name of the women who was killed in Thursday's head-on collision in the Pear Park area of Grand Junction. Meghan Marie Smith, 19 from Clifton, died after the car she was driving ran into a Jeep Cherokee driven by Denise Covington near D and 31 Roads
Covington suffered minor injuries. A passenger in the car Smith was driving, 20-year-old Andrew Roles, also only had minor injuries.
An investigation into what led to the crash is underway. There was no word on whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Police said neither occupant in the Ford was wearing a seatbelt.
