A Grand Valley woman says the area needs a charter school that teaches the full spectrum of classes, from kindergarten through 12th grade, and feels the Caprock Charter School would do just that. Earlier this week, Carrie Sherrill held a meeting to discuss the need for a new charter school.
She and her husband were impressed with the education her children were getting when they lived in Boise, Idaho, before
moving to the Grand Valley last fall. She found new Emerson School met her children's needs, but that school could not take both her children.
She decided that the area needs a new charter school that emphasizes character building, and says the new school will help those who don't do well in standard institutions.
Sherrill says she hasn't discussed the new school with Mesa County School District 51 board members yet, but discussions with other school officials have gone well.
