A Fruita girl is dead after being mauled by her family's two large dogs. According to the Fruita police department, the attack happened just before 8:00 p.m. Saturday at 713 East Cleveland Avenue in Fruita. The Fruita police and Lower Valley fire departments responded to the incident. Authorities are releasing few details about the mauling, but have said the 7-year-old girl was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction where she was pronounced dead. 11 News did speak with some neighbors in the area who say more than one dog was kept at the home where the attacked happened and some say the dogs appeared vicious at times. So far there's no word on whether charges will be filed in this case. Saturday's dog attack is the second in as many days in Mesa County. Animal control officials are investigating an incident that happened Friday in Clifton during which two young boys were bitten when three dogs escaped from a fenced yard near 32 Road and F 1/4 Road.
