A Grand Junction man is taking his passion for fly fishing to the next level as he travels to Oregon this weekend to try out for Fly Fishing Team U.S.A. Anthony Naranja's usual job is as a dentist, he's often found waist–deep in the Roaring Fork River with his fly fishing rod.
Naranja took up fly fishing about 15 years ago, since then the pursuit of trout has taken him around the country and onto the Outdoor Television Network's Fly Fishing Masters Program. This weekend he will be in Sun River, Oregon, competing for a place on Team U.S.A.
There are a dozen members on Fly Fishing Team U.S.A. Five make up the traveling team that goes to competitions around the world. This year, competitions are being held in New Zealand, Canada, and Poland, among other places.
Naranja is being outfitted this weekend with gear from Western Anglers in Grand Junction.
11 News Colorado will keep you updated on whether the Grand Junction angler makes the team.
