Disney Honors Montrose High School Teacher

A special needs teacher from Montrose High School has won a national education award. Mary West was selected out of 50,000 nominees across the country to receive the 2005 Disney Teacher Award. She was one of only 45 teachers to receive this honor, and was chosen for her creativity, innovative teaching methods and ability to inspire students.

West is receiving $10,000 from the Walt Disney Company and a trip to Disneyland in California. Disney is also awarding Montrose High School $5,000.

West says she wasn't sure about applying for this award, but she has always told her kids that you can't be successful unless you try.
