Mail Carriers Make It Easy To Help Others In Mesa County, Food Drive Set For Saturday

Saturday, helping Mesa County's Community Food Bank is as easy as going to the mailbox. The United States Postal Service is asking customers to pack non–perishable food items, then simply leave them wherever it is you receive mail.

Mail carriers will then gather the food and take care of getting it to where it needs to be. Once the food is collected, it is weighed and distributed evenly among 7 area food banks. Alfred Parker with the Salvation Army in Grand Junction says it's a great time of year for a food drive.

Volunteers are needed to assist postal workers. If anyone is interested in helping, contact the Fruitvale Post Office at 244–3444.
