The wreckage of a small plane was found near Ouray, Friday night. The Civil Air Patrol said search crews found the wreckage around 7 P.M. They confirmed four people were killed in the crash.
The FAA reports the plane had left Cables, California Wednesday night and was reported overdue to Elbert, Colorado, Thursday evening. LT. Mark Young with the Civil Air Patrol in Montrose tells 11 News the single-engine Cessna 210 appeared to have broken apart in the air leaving wreckage scattered about very rugged terrain in a large area about one mile northeast of Whitehouse Mountain. Avalanche danger is hampering emergency personnel's efforts to retrieve the bodies. A recovery mission will be attempted once conditions improve.
Five Planes and 20 volunteers from the Civil Air Patrol participated in the search as well as a U.S. Air Force Chinook helicopter.
