Mesa County Residents Bring Out The Goods To Stamp Out Hunger

Postal workers were busy Saturday loading their trucks, not with mail, but with food. In all, more than 110–thousand pounds of food was collected in Mesa County.
In an effort to “stamp out hunger” mail carriers and volunteers collected non-perishable canned goods from mailboxes everywhere.
Last year residents in Colorado raised 750–thousand pounds of food. All the items gathered Saturday will be delivered to various food banks and low–income programs.
The "stamp out hunger" campaign is the largest one–day food drive in the United States. Last year 71-million pounds of food was collected nationwide.
