A treacherous road in Mesa County claims two more lives, this time two young men from Grand Junction.
The Colorado State Patrol responded to a one vehicle accident on Colorado Highway 141 just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. The state patrol reports the 1978 Jeep CJ was traveling north on the highway not far from Whitewater when the driver ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and lost control of the vehicle. The jeep rolled three and a half times before coming to rest on its roof.
20-year–old Travis Eugene Ivie was pronounced dead at the scene. 23-year–old Joshua Samuel Farley was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital via Care Flight helicopter. He died later as a result of his injuries. 20-year–old Tonya Lea Raymond suffered a broken collarbone, she's currently in fair condition at St. Mary's Hospital. All three victims have Grand Junction addresses.
Investigators are still trying to determine a cause and are not releasing information as to who was behind the wheel of the jeep when it crashed.
