Potholes Drowning Victim Identified

The Mesa County coroner has released the name of the victims involved in a drowning near Glade Park Saturday. 25-year-old Fruita resident Wyatt Mairel dove from a cliff into the water saturday afternoon, he began struggling in the swift cold waters of the potholes. 29-year–old Richard Lee Trout of Denver climbed down a trail to assist Mariel. but ended up falling into the water himself. Trout was sucked into the undertow and drowned. Rescue crews were able to retrieve Mariel. He was sent by Care Flight helicopter to St. Mary's hospital to be treated for hypothermia. The coroner says a toxicology report on the downing victim is still pending.
