A law enforcement career spanning more than three decades ends Wednesday with accolades, a little comedy, and a party for a Mesa County Sherrif's Deputy. Lieutenant Larry Bullard began his career as a policeman in Albuquerque. He later became an officer with the Grand Junction Police Department before moving to the sheriff's department in 2001.
Over the years he has worked in a variety of duties, but what many residents know him for is saving lives. As the law enforcement coordinator for the Mesa County Search and Rescue Team, Bullard took many late night phone calls to find and help lost outdoor enthusiasts.
At the event were former Mesa County Sheriff Ricke Claussen and representatives from the Fruita and Grand Junction Police Departments.
Bullard's career in law enforcement may be over, but he will continue to be a member of the search and rescue team.
