Delta Out Of Running For Western Slope C.B.I. Office

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has narrowed its list of possible future sites, eliminating Delta from the running. The decision to remove Delta from the running comes after security concerns arose. It happens with a decision less than a month away.

Although the C.B.I.'s current lease isn't up until 2008,
a decision on where the C.B.I. officies will relocate is expected by the end of this month. Now, Montrose and Grand Junction will try to become the new site.

According to Deana Sheriff with Delta Area Development, Delta was eliminated from the running due to concerns regarding deployment of services and security issues along Highway 50. The C.B.I. headquarters are located in Montrose, but the bureau is running out of room.

It currently operates out of a 9,000 square foot space within Montrose Memorial Hospital. The C.B.I. put word out that it was looking into the possibility of constructing a new building, but not necessarily in Montrose.
