The United States Oost Office in Fruita is running out of space, but the city's new postmaster says it's not likely the city will see a new post office building soon. Steve Letterhos took over the reins of the Fruita Post Office in February. In that time his main desire has been to improve service.
He has already added another counter to help customers, and new carrier routes have been added to serve the Grand Valley's fastest–growing area, but Letterhos says the growth is also fueling a need for a bigger post office. He says some excess equipment has been removed from the building to make more room for mail, but that hasn't solved the space problem.
Letterhos says Fruita is on the five–year waiting list for a new postal facility, but he says competition is fierce, and getting a new building depends on the needs and growth of other communities.
