1 Killed, 1 Critically Injured In A.T.V. Accident

One teenager is dead and another is in the hospital after an A.T.V. crash in Delta, Tuesday night. At about 8:00 p.m., the Delta County Sheriff's Department responded to an accident on Old Wagon Road west of Delta.

Officials say a 12–year–old was driving an A.T.V. with a 13–year–old riding on the back. They were apparently weaving at fast speeds when they ran off the road and hit a fence. Both were ejected from the A.T.V.

The two were transported to Delta Memorial Hospital where the 13–year–old was pronounced dead. The 12–year–old was later flown to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction and was in critical condition, Thursday night. The Colorado State Patrol had not released the victims names.

It's against the law to ride A.T.V.'s on county roads in Colorado. The Colorado State Patrol will submit a report to the district attorney who will decide if charges will be filed.
