State Senator Mark Hillman has been named as acting State Treasurer to fill in for Treasurer Mike Coffman who left this week for military training in preparation for going to Iraq.
Hillman is expected to serve as acting Treasurer until Coffman returns in nine months.
Hillman, a Republican, will have to resign his job as Minority Leader in the Senate, and has filed to be a candidate for State Treasurer in next year's election.
Coffman still has a 18 months left on his term and says
he'll launch a campaign for Secretary of State when he returns from Iraq.
