Volunteers are hard at work in Fruita this weekend helping build 11 new homes for Grand Valley families. With the help of a million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Housing Resources of Western Colorado is able to continue its sweat-equity housing program. The program allows low income families the opportunity to build and own a new home. This is a neighborhood project and families are not permitted to move in until all 11 homes are complete. The future homeowner's physical labor is the down payment and the program offers 33-year loans. The sweat–equity housing program has provided more than two hundred homes in Mesa County and Delta.
