Highway 50 Reopened After Trailer Accident

Traffic on Highway 50 is flowing again after both westbound lanes were closed due to a jackknifed trailer. The crash happened just before noon Sunday near mile marker 50. A Colorado State Patrol trooper says 45–year–old Grand Junction resident Charles Ross was hauling a 32–foot camper trailer with a 1967 Ford pick up truck. The trailer began to fishtail and the truck hit a guard rail blocking both westbound lanes. Traffic came to a standstill causing a backup all the way to Delta. Ross and two passengers in the truck were wearing seatbelts and no one was injured. Authorities believe speed may have been a factor in the accident. The driver was cited for careless driving.
