Grand Junction-Tuesday afternoon, the Lions Club announced this year's Lion of the Year at their annual luncheon at Two Rivers Convention Center. The recipient is ninety-year-old Dr. G Paul Smith.
Smith moved to Grand Junction more than 50 years ago to start his medical practice from inside his home. He later moved to an office on 7th Street, but still kept the hometown feel of his practice.
Many people remember him for his work with Saint Mary's Hospital and for always volunteering with the health fair. Smith says he was truly surprised to be this year's recipient
Smith has been a lions club member since October of 1955.
