A Grand Valley organization changing the lives of at-risk youth celebrates a milestone, Wednesday. The Collbran Job Corps Center opened it's doors 40 years ago on this date.
Dozens of past and present students, along with Colorado Legislators and other V.I.P.'s, honored the school with a day filled with speeches, presentations, and dedications. They also unveiled a granite wall remembering names of past students.
The Job Corps program was created to provide disadvantaged youth with a blend of job training, basic education, and work experience. For years students and faculty at the center say it's a life-altering experience.
In the last 20 years, the Collbran Center has received more than 70 awards from Grand Valley organizations. It is currently ranked number one among the 122 Job Corps Centers throughout the country.
