A weed fire burns out of control on the Redlands damaging a garage and threatening vehicles nearby. With a red flag warning in effect Sunday in Grand Junction firefighters are forced to deal with an out of control brush fire. Several Grand Junction fire units respond to a late afternoon brush fire on the Redlands. With dry conditions, the fire spread quickly, threatening structures in the surrounding area. Firefighters attacked the blaze like a wildfire, setting up defensive trenches to contain the spread of the fire. Once personnel arrived on–scene the flames were quickly extinguished, but not before smoke and fire caused $15,000 in damage to a garage on the property at 488 23 Road. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
