Denver (AP) Despite some evening thunderstorms, a weeklong
heat wave is threatening to increase the risk of wildfire danger
across Colorado. The wet spring left behind lush grass and underbrush, something that hasn't been in years because of the drought.

If the dry weather continues, that growth could become fuel for a wildfire.

For now, fire experts are still predicting a normal fire season for the state and a below normal season in portions of the higher elevations in southwestern Colorado. The forecast will be updated next month.
