Lost Boy Focused On Avoiding Strangers And Staying On Trail

Bountiful, Utah (AP) The parents of the boy scout stranded for four nights in Utah's mountains said their son remained focused on two things while he was stranded. During a press conference today, Toby and Jody Hawkins said their son, Brennan, told them only two thoughts went through his head, "stay on the trail if you get lost" and "don't talk to strangers."

Toby said he never discussed with Brennan how the don't talk to strangers rule changes when you get lost. He said that discussion may have lead to finding Brennan faster. Brennan's father said their son continues to amaze them.

He said initially after Brennan's disappearance he made the comment that he thought Brennan was the most ill-prepared out of his five children. He said now he and his wife believe he was maybe the best prepared.

The couple described Brennan as a spirited child who loves
collecting pokemon cards.
