Aerial Spraying For West Nile Pushed Back One Day
Plans to use aerial spraying to combat West Nile and the mosquito population in Mesa County is postponed until Saturday.
Spraying was supposed to happen early Friday morning.
Low–flying planes will be used to drop the larvicide granules,
and will affect non–residential areas in Whitewater, Debeque, and the Redlands.
These areas are being targeted because they have breeding grounds that are too large to be treated on foot. Residents around these areas may see the low–flying aircraft, however Mesa County Health Department officials say there is no health threat.
The health department also reports that mosquito populations are down throughout the Grand Valley, but may increase with the recent rise in temperature.
