Grand Junction-A Grand Junction man is dead from injuries he sustained when he was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle, Friday. The crash happened just after 9:00 A.M. at the intersection of Patterson Road and Beechwood Street.
According to police, Justin Keenan, 27, was driving west on Patterson when he was hit by a white Buick sedan driven by 86–year–old Helen Bunker. She was attempting to make a left turn onto Beechwood Street.
Keenan was thrown from his motorcycle and hit the passenger side windshield and fender of Bunker's car. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital where the coroner confirmed he died sometime later.
Authorities say accidents like this are more common this time of year, and are urging motorists to be on alert for motorcycle riders.
Police say Keenan was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Bunker was also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Charges against the her are pending the outcome of an investigation.
