Highway 6 Near Golden To Partially Re-Open After Rockslide

Good news for the casinos in Black Hawk and Central City. Highway 6, one of the main thoroughfares between Denver and the gambling towns, will partially re-open Sunday. The highway was shut down Tuesday when a massive rockslide covered 100 yards of roadway with rock and debris up to 30 feet deep. Two tractor–trailers were caught in the slide, but no one was seriously injured. The highway through Clear Creek Canyon will partially re-open to recreation traffic. Transportation officials believe it will take up to one-and-half-million dollars and a month to clean up the slide entirely.
