Motorcycle Crash Takes The Life Of Local Air Force Recruiter

Staff Sergeant Justin Keenan was the only United States Air Force recruiter for the western slope and took his job very seriously. According to a friend the 27-year-old leaves behind four children and a wife. Keenan was a local man who graduated from Fruita Monument High School. The fatal accident happened early Friday morning at the intersection of Patterson Road and Beechwood Street. Grand Junction police say 86–year–old Helen Bunker turned into Keenan who was on a Kawasaki motorcycle. Keenan later died as a result of his injuries. The 86–year–old driver has not been ticketed yet but police expect to issue a ticket for careless driving resulting in death by the end of the day. The maximum penalty for that misdemeanor is one year in jail and a one–thousand dollar fine.
