Page, Ariz. (AP) A Colorado teenager died Tuesday after falling on the cliffs in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The identity of the 14–year–old victim from Littleton was not immediately released.
Park rangers said the boy was with family members on a boating trip on Lake Powell and their craft was beached near where the Escalante River flows into the lake.
The teen was on the rocks high above the water around 2:00 p.m. when he fell about 130 feet. Family members called for help and performed C.P.R. on the boy before he was airlifted to Page Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:00 p.m.
The accident was being investigated by Page police and the
National Park Service.
Park officials said it was the sixth fatal accident at Glen
Canyon Recreation Area this year.
