Safken Battles Cancer, Fund Established To Help Family
Former Fruita Monument standout athlete Sammy Safken has been diagnosed with cancer. Safken now plays football at the University of Northern Colorado.
He has been diagnosed with Ewing's Carcinoma, a very fast spreading form of cancer. Safken played football and was a standout wrestler for the Wildcats. He graduated from Fruita Monument in 2003.
A fund has been established to help his family. Contributions can be made to:
