Longtime Mesa County Child Administrator Dies In Motorcycle Crash

A motorcycle accident has claimed the life of a long–time advocate of Mesa County children, and seriously injured his wife, who works for Mesa County School District 51. Bill Ireland and his wife, Kathy, were attending a motorcycle rally in Pueblo when the accident occurred.

Bill Ireland came to Child Protective Services in Mesa County in 1979 from Delta County. He became supervisor for the Child Protection Ongoing team in 1993.

Kathy Ireland is a counselor for District 51 and is active in early childhood development.

She remains in critical condition at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver.
